Window Tinting for Oceanside Drivers

Privacy in the back. Legal up front.

Window tint for Oceanside drivers, installed indoors at our Miramar shop. Any shade behind the driver, the legal 70 percent on the front side windows.

Coastal tint is about glare and privacy as much as heat.

Oceanside is the coolest city we serve, with summer highs at the marina around 70 F. Tint here is less about a hot cabin and more about glare, privacy in the back seat, and sun on the glass during a long drive down the coast.

Behind the driver, California lets you go as dark as you like with dual side mirrors. Rear doors, quarter glass and the back glass can be dark enough that a bag on the seat is hard to see from outside. Up front, the side windows need at least 70 percent of light through, glass and film combined, so they take only very light film.

The drive to Miramar, and how to make it count.

Tint is installed in our shop, about 31 miles by road from Oceanside, because a clean bay is what keeps film free of specks and bubbles. If you are making the trip, make it count. If a door window needs replacing, we replace it and tint the new pane in the same visit.

Everything else comes to you. Chip repairs and windshields are mobile in Oceanside at no extra cost: see our Oceanside page or windshield repair in Oceanside.

Before you choose a shade

We are an auto glass shop first, so window tinting here is cut to the edge of each pane and set wet, with no gaps along the top of a roll-down window. Come in, look at the films on real glass, and we tell you what passes on which window. Tint is a cash service and is not part of an insurance claim.

Old tint, new tint

If the car already has film that faded or went purple, that was dyed film. We take it off with steam and a scraper before the new film goes on. Carbon and ceramic films hold their color, and the install carries the same lifetime workmanship warranty as our glass.

Questions

Window Tinting questions from Oceanside.

Do you install tint in Oceanside?
No. Tint goes on indoors at 9275 Trade Pl in Miramar, about 31 miles by road from Oceanside. Oceanside sits on I-5, SR-76 and SR-78.
Is heat-rejecting film worth it on the coast?
Oceanside Marina's NOAA normal high is 69.9 F in July and 71.3 F in August, the coolest station near our service area. You need it less than an Escondido driver does. It still cuts sun through the glass, so it is your call; we show you both on real glass.
How dark can I go on the back windows?
Any shade, as long as the car has dual side mirrors. That covers the rear doors, quarter glass and back glass.
Can you tint the top of my windshield?
Yes, with a non-reflective strip across the top 4 inches. That is all California allows on a windshield.
How long does the new film need to cure?
Plan on keeping the windows rolled up for a couple of days after the install.
Is window tint part of an insurance claim?
No. Film is a cash service, separate from any glass claim.
